AMATEUR RADIO MULTIMEDIA 2006 COMPETITION

 

The Union de Radioaficionados Españoles (URE) and the Union de Radioaficionados de Estella (URDE) present the 1st Amateur Radio Multimedia Contest.

Aim of the competition: The sponsors of this award want to promote amateur radio through audiovisual artistic works. This event is also to encourage the promotion of this kind of art amongst the hams and to bring our hobby closer to any multimedia creator interested in it.

Entrants: The competition is open to any worldwide amateur or professional multimedia creator (quizás artist). Amateur radio and radioclubs are especially encouraged to participate. URDE members may not participate in the contest.

The organizers have the right to reject any entry if they consider it does not meet these rules. This rejection will not generate any monetary or other kind of compensation.

Topic: Amateur Radio.

Categories:
Documental: Showing any amateur radio activity or event or any amateur radio investigation activity.

Fiction: Showing any story in which amateur radio is the main subject or any situation happened to a ham or group of hams.

Lengths and formats of the entries: The length will be from 5 minutes (minimum) to 25 min (maximum).

Formats: The supports will be DVD-Video, miniDV, CD , VCD or any other digital format. All entries must enclose their video codecs to be properly reproduced.

Language: Spanish (preferred) and English. If the work is in another language it must be subtitled in any of the two referred before.

The work must be original and not previously published nor submitted to any other competition.

Any entry must be sent in two sealed envelopes, one of them named "envelope A" containing the work presented for the competition and the other one named "envelope B" containing the following contestant information:

Name of the creator
Title of the work
Length
Telephone number and E-mail address

This information must be shown also on the cover of the electronic support.

If the applicant is requires his entry to be returned, an SASE must be enclosed.

Deadline for submission: All entries must arrive between April 14 and September 1, 2006. They should be sent to the following address:

Prizes:
- Trophy and award for the best entry of the competition. Sponsored by URE.
- Trophy and award for the best documental story. Sponsored by GPA (Grupo Puertas Abiertas).
- Trophy and award for the best fiction story. Sponsored by URDE.

Criteria for evaluating the works will be amongs others:
- The quality of the documentary and its suitability for performance to the general public
- Originality of the audiovisual aesthetics.
- Originality of the story.

Results and prize delivery: The results will be published after 25-10-2006 at the URDE and GPA web pages at:

Prizes will be officially given during the URE Congress 2006 to be celebrated in Asturias in December.

Use of the works: Contestants agree that if their entry is selected as a winning entry, as a condition of receiving a prize, the contestant grants URE/ URDE a royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to use, reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, and/or publicly display Contestant's entry and derivative works based upon the Contestant's entry, for the purposes of advertising and promoting URE/URDE products, and for inclusion in and distribution with URDE/URE products.

Contestants allow URE and URDE to copy, distribute, display and obtain intellectual property protection for, or otherwise use such information at the URE and URDE's sole discretion, with the obligation of acknowledging the authorship or source.
