| Vicente Martín 15 tons of cocaine seized in Colombia
Last Thursday, Colombian police confiscated more than 15 tons of cocaine (the biggest cache in Colombia´s history) in Mina River, a little city close to Nariño, in the Pacific coast of this country. According to the government, this evidences the existence of an alliance between the guerrilla and paramilitary groups. A proof of this is that the freeing forefront (paras) has been receiving the drug from the Colombian Revolucionary Army´s 29 Th forefront, as we can read in the last oficial statement. Ricardo Vargas, one of the most important people in the fight against drugs in Colombia, doesn´t believe it because, as he said, it would mean that armed organizations had converted in drug traffickers exclusively. The drug was seized last Thursday, but we didn´t know about it until yesterday. It was found as a result of an operation that started in February. Nariño´s zone has become one of the most important places for cocaine cultivation, with nearly six hundred and thousand hectares used for it. | | | | |
