xml:namespace prefix = st1 />"Garden State” is a film that reflects the friendship of three teenagers who go toward adult age.
The girl is interpreted by Natalie Portman, Queen Amidala in “Star Wars”; and the boys are Zach Braff, who is also the director and the screenwriter; and Peter Sarsgaard.
This comedy, which is the debut of Braff as director, mixes humour, sensibility and melancholy.
It shows a boy, Zach Braff, who returns home and goes to his mother’s funeral. During his stay he lives some anecdotes with an old school friend, Mark, and a very spontaneous girl, Sam.
The screenplay is based on the director’s personal experiences. The characters are credible and spectators can identify themselves with this story.

“Garden State” as “Beautiful girls” (1996) describes a generation with veracity and a romantic touch.
It has been compared with “The graduated” (1967) because both films tell the confusion and experiences of twenty-year old people and its soundtrack transports us back to the sixties.
