Rymans POSITION: Director, IT Solutions REPORTING TO: Chief Technology Officer LOCATION: Home Office, Toronto IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: Participating as a member of the IT Senior Management Team in the development of the overall Information Technology strategy for the business Consulting with department heads involved with proposed projects to ensure cooperation and further define nature of project. Reviewing project feasibility studies. Establishing work standards and time line goals for projects. Preparing progress reports to inform supervisor of project status and deviation from goals. Analyzing complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends technical solutions Producing detailed time line for each application release and implements effective project control by monitoring the progress of the software release and reporting the status Directing and prioritizing the work load of subordinate personnel Approving all business requirements prior to the technical solution Representing the IS function at customer review meeting when appropriate Performing salary administration and conducting interviews and making recommendations for new hires, consultants and/or replacement personnel. Annual Budgeting and Ongoing Control of Expenses AND YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 7 years of retail experience Three to five years experience leading, developing and training people A college or university degree in computers/technology is required - or equivalent work experience Experience in implementing effective and innovative software development methodologies Demonstrated leadership and professionalism across all business management levels Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and motivate professional staff Broad knowledge of data processing systems, concepts, and methodologies Understanding of general business, retailing, supply chain and ecommerce Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and develop relationships at multiple levels of an organization and across a wide variety of personalities & function areas Demonstrated project management skills working with internal resources, external consulting & technology service providers Solid writing skills and strong ability to create and deliver high-impact presentations (strong written and verbal communication skills) Strong understanding of key levers of profitability for retailers, wholesalers, and publishers Proven experience in analysis, system design, process flow, development of functional specification and the effective use of software development methodologies Incumbent must recognize that this is a demanding retail environment and change is the driving force.
