deseo para la entonces joven revista Electroneurobiología,
remitidos por el entonces presidente de la Academia de Ciencias de Berlín,
luego presidente del Instituto Max Planck.
Seit vierzig Jahren erregt Charles Percy
Snows These die Gemüter, daß die Einheit unserer geistigen Welt in
eine naturwissenschaftlich-Technische und eine
geisteswissenschaftlich-literarische Kultur zerfalle. Unsere Tradition,
die Argentinian-Deutsches Neurobiologische Schule, geht genau in der
entgegengesetzten Richtung geradeaus, und die "Electroneurobiología"
Artikeln sind ein vervollkommen Beispiel davon. Dr. rer. nat. Hubert
Markl, Professor für Evolutionsbiologie und Verhaltensforschung an der
Universität Konstanz und Präsident der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie
der Wissenschaften, ist der frage nachgegangen, worauf die merkwürdige
Anziehungskraft des Bildes von den "zwei Kulturen" beruht. Wir danken dem
Autor für die freundliche Genehmigung, das in Sprache und Stil
unverwechselbare deutsche Original abzudrucken.
* Das
griechische "dichotomos" und das lateinische Lehnwort "dichotomus" werden
in beiden Sprachen als Adjecktive zweier Endungen gebraucht, d.h. die
maskuline Endung gilt auch für das Femininum. Die weibliche Form
"dichotoma" findet sich erst in meist pseudowissenschaftlichen
Pflanzennamen der Neuzeit. Der Autor nimmt die schlechte Grammatik als
gute Sprachbildung bewußt in Kauf. ]

Esta
añeja Comunicación sorprenderá sin duda al lector por la vigencia que
conserva. Pese a su brevedad y a provenir de una pluma de señalado
prejuicio al tocar otros asuntos, ofrece rico temario a la reflexión.
Fundada en noviembre de 1908, la Sociedad de Psicología de Buenos Aires
fue establecida fundamentalmente por Francisco de Veyga, Director del
Servicio de Alienados de la Policía Federal Argentina y catedrático de
Medicina Legal en la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas, y por Horacio G. Piñero,
titular del primer curso de Psicología en la Facultad de Filosofía y
Letras.

Why is Time Frame-dependent in Relativity? Minkowski's
spacetime as a Kantian 'condition of possibility' for relativistic
calculations

Abstract:
Minkowski spacetime is a condition of possibility for relativistic
calculations. It keeps special relativity kinematic (i.e. avoids
introducing in it causal dynamics) but in exchange forces relativistic
observers to describe at once past, present, and future states along the
length of the observed moving entities. This has been considered a proof
that past and future components of real entities enjoy an unremitting mode
of existence, because, if the world described by relativity were
three-dimensional, the kinematic consequences of special relativity and
the experiments confirming them would be impossible. The latter is
acknowledged as exact but the assumed proof is viewed as incorrect
because, such imposition being a Kantian condition of possibility, it
cannot reveal anything about what Kant called noumenon, namely
extramentality.
