ENTREVISTA A LUNAE

 

Bueno en primer lugar decirte que es un placer hacerte esta entrevista y que espero que se te haga lo mas agradable posible.

Tambien es un placer para mi ! Gracias y perdona por el retraso en responder a tu entrevista.

PREGUNTAS PARA LA BANDA :

Por lo que se la banda se formo en 1998, puedes comentarnos un poco como fue todo esto.

Sí, pero no es del todo correcto. La idea de la banda nació en el pupitre de la universidad, y los miembros éramos yo (Lele) y una chica que cantaba. Empezamos a escribir canciones i las tocábamos con la guitarra acústica. Nos gustaba tanto el sonido de esta guitarra que pronto entendimos que nunca la abandonaríamos, incluso si queríamos ser una banda de metal .

¿Cuáles fueron vuestras influencias cuando todo empezó?

Tengo una increíble variedad de influencias: desde el clásico power metal hasta la música tradicional italiana, desde los antiguos cantantes americanos hasta las bandas sonoras de los dibujos animados japoneses, el hard rock de los 70 i mucho más!!!

¿Tendremos la oportunidad de veros aquí en España o vais a tocar solo en Italia?

Por el momento, no tenemos un contrato discográfico, por lo tanto solos no podemos organizar una gira, pero estamos mirando de actuar en Londres, así que si alguien nos puede ayudar a encontrar algún lugar donde podamos tocar, le estaremos muy agradecidos! Sin embargo, esperamos venir allí pronto con nuestra gira oficial!!! :-P

¿Qué podemos ver en los directos de Lunae? Quiero decir, ¿Preparáis algo en especial?

Betta suele llevar un sujetador con adornos y una falda larga, y se pinta los brazos, el vientre y la espalda. Cuando el escenario es suficientemente grande, un bailarín clásico prepara una coreografía para nuestras canciones.

¿Alguna historia divertida que os pasara durante la grabación del álbum o en algún concierto?

Un antiguo batería se cayó sobre un arbusto desde una escalera, durante una sesión de fotos (afortunadamente sin hacerse daño!). Durante una actuación, Elisabeth rompió el escenario con su zapato de tacón alto y casi ni se cayó!

Para aquellos que no os conozcan, ¿qué diríais que Lunae les puede ofrecer?

Algo nuevo. Aunque haya varios grupos con una voz femenina, queremos crear un sonido muy particular, con la guitarra acústica y la flauta, y algunas pequeñas cosas que hacen que nuestro estilo sea único!

¿Qué pensáis de la situación actual del metal en Italia?

Creemos que en la escena metal italiana hay una gran falta de novedades. La mayoría de las bandas tocan el mismo género, que está fuertemente inspirado en el clásico power metal italiano. Pensamos que se necesita algo nuevo, y esperamos poder ofrecerlo!!! Estamos trabajando duro para ello!!!

Me sorprende que no tengáis un teclista en la banda. Tenéis uno para los conciertos. ¿Estáis pensando en incluirlo oficialmente en el grupo?

Con dos instrumentos como la flauta travesera y la guitarra acústica, no necesitamos un teclista, no tenemos ninguno para nuestros conciertos y, por ahora, no pensamos incluir ninguno en la banda.

¿Tenéis experiencia en otros grupos?

Yo (Lele) toqué el bajo en la banda metal “Soultakers” durante tres años.

Piero (bajo) toca actualmente en muchas bandas y en una representación teatral de Jesucristo Superstar.

Tania (flauta) ha estado tocando durante años en conjuntos clásicos, Lunae es su primera experiencia rock-metal!

Stefano (Batería) está ahora de gira en Italia con Maurizio Vandelli, un famoso cantante italiano.

Betta (voz) también canta en una banda de Doom llamada “Labyrinthus Noctis”.

Simona (guitarra) tocó en muchos grupos explorando diferentes estilos… rock, prog. y heavy. “I was also a session man” (¿?)

 

PREGUNTAS PARA LA CANTANTE

Es increíble que ahora, muchos bandas de metal tengan una vocalista. ¿Qué piensas de esto?

Pienso que es algo bueno, pero ahora hay demasiados grupos que tienen una cantante…puede ser porque es una especie de “moda”. Espero que lo entiendas…Lunae ha tenido una vocalista desde que empezamos en 1998.

Cantas, tocas el piano… ¿Nos sorprenderás con otros talentos?

Ahora no toco el piano… lo hice desde los 6 hasta los 11 años y luego lo dejé… Pero, cuando hacemos un concierto, disfruto sorprendiendo nuestros fans con una pintura en el cuerpo diferente cada vez! A veces uso un color especial que brilla con la luz ultravioleta.

¿Cuáles son tus grupos favoritos?

Me encantan dos grupos italianos, FIABA y MARLENE KUNTZ. El primero tiene un peculiar estilo, algo así como proa metal con letras (italianas) inspiradas en fábulas. Son de Sicilia y son fantásticos! Marlene Kuntz toca un grunge ruidoso y sus letras también están escritas en italiano. Son muy peculiares. En cuanto a las bandas internacionales, me encanta Nevermore (a pesar de que Warrel Dane me decepcionara en el último concierto…) y The Catering. Pero los mejores son Queen y Freddie Mercury.

¿Tus discos favoritos?

“Dreaming Neon Black” de Nevermore, “Innuendo” de Queen y todos los álbums de Fiaba y Marlene Kuntz… No tengo solamente uno favorito!

¿Qué tipo de música escuchas normalmente?

Como pudiste ver a partir de las otras respuestas, mis gustos musicales son varios, de hecho normalmente escucho una variedad de rock/metal que va desde Sepultura-Pantera-Fear Factory hasta Nick Cave-Sigur Ros-Promethean. No escucho pop, jazz ni soul…

¿Con qué grupo te gustaría actuar?

Me gustaría mucho (y creo que a todos los de Lunae también) tocar con Fiaba, la banda italiana de la que hablaba antes, Lacuna Coil o Gathering (¿Aspiro a demasiado? Mmhh… está bien!!!)

No quiero olvidarlo: Feliz Cumpleaños, porque será pronto…

Answer for the band

As far as i know about the band , it was founded in 1998. Wasn´t it?

Yes, but it's not correct. The idea of the band was born on the university desks, and its members were me (Lele) and a girl who sung. we began to write songs and played them with the acoustic guitar. we liked the sound of this guitar so much that we soon understood we would have never abandoned it, even if we wanted to be a metal band.

What influences did you have when it all started?

I have an incredible variety of influences: from classic power metal to the traditional italian music, from the old american singers to the soundtracks of old japanese toons, the 70' hard rock and much more!!!

Will we have the chance to see you in Spain or Are you going to play only in Italy?

At the moment, we haven't any discografical deal, so we are not able to organize a tour alone. but we are looking for some gigs in london, so, if anyone could help us to find some place where we can play, we would be very grateful! however I hope to come there soon with our official tour!!! :-P

What can we see in Lunae lives? I mean , do you prepare something special?

Betta usually wears a decorated bra and a long skirt, and she has her arms, her belly and her back painted. When the stage is big enough, a classic dancer prepares a coreography on our songs.

Any funny story happened to you during the recordind of the album or any concert?

And old drummer fallen down from a ladder in a bush, during a photo session (luckily without damage!). During a gig, Elisabeth break the stage with her high heeled shoe, and she barely falled!

For those ones who doesn´t know you, what would you say that lunae can give us?

Something new. Even if there are several bands with a female voice, I want to create a very particular sound, with acoustic guitar and the flute, and several little things that make our style unique!

What do you think about tha actual situation of metal in Italy?

I think that in the italian metal scene there is a big lack of news. most of the bands play the same genre, that is strongly inspired to the classic italian power metal. I think there is need of something new, and I hope we can give it!! we're working so hard for this!!!!

I´m surprised that you don´t have a Keyboard player in the band . You have one for the concerts. Are you thinking about including him officially in the band?

With two instruments like transverse flute and acoustic guitar, we don't need a keyboarder. and don't have any for our live and for now, we don't think to include any keyboarder in our band.

Do you have any experience in others groups?

I (Lele) 'played for three year as a bassist in the metal band "Soultakers".
Piero(bass)actually plays in many bands and in a theatral rappresentation of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Tania ( flute) have been playing for years in classical ensembles, Lunae is her first rock-metal experience!
Stefano(Drum) now is in tour in Italy with Maurizio Vandelli,a famous italian singer.

Betta(voice) sing also in a Doom band called Labyrinthus Noctis.

Answer for the singer

It is incredible that now, many metal bands have a girl singer. What do you think about this?

I think that is a good thingt,but now there are too many group that have a female voice..maybe because it is a kind of "fashion" I hope you understand.. Lunae had a female singer since 1998 when we started.

You sing, you play the piano.... Will you surprise us with any other talents?

I don't play piano now...I studied it from 6 to 11 and then I stop... But , when we make a concert I enjoy myself surprising our fans with a different body painting every time! Sometimes I use a special color that shine with the UV light.

Which bands are your favorites ones?

I love two italian bands ,FIABA and MARLENE KUNTZ. The first one make a particular genre, a kind of prog metal whit lyrics (italian) inspired by fables. They are from Sicily and they're great! marlene kuntz play a noise-grunge and their lyrics are written in italian, too. they are very particular .As far as international bands are concerned, i love Nevermore (even if Warrel Dane disappointed me at the last concert...) and the Gathering. But the best are Queen and Freddie Mercury.

Your favorite albums?

"Dreaming neon black" by Nevermore, "Innuendo" by Queen and all the albums by Fiaba and Marlene Kuntz...I haven't only a favourite one!

What kind of music do you usually listen to?

As you could see from the other answers, my musical tastes are variuos, infact I usually listen to a variety of rock/metal music that goes from Sepultura-Pantera-Fearfactory to NickCave-Sigur Ros_Promethean. I don't listen to pop, jazz and soul music...

Which band would you like to play with?

I would like so much ( and I believe all Lunae would) to play with Fiaba, the italian band I was talking about before, Lacuna coil or the Gatherig ( Do I aim too high?? Mmhh... it's ok!!!)

I´dont want to forget it. Happy birthday, because it will be soon...
