Colección de Hierro Forjado Gerardo Alegre

Probablemente sea una gran oportunidad, la ocasión que ahora se presenta, de adquirir esta colección compuesta de unas 100 piezas exclusivas y únicas de hierro forjado realizadas por Gerardo Alegre, un gran maestro de principios del siglo XX.  Representativas del modernismo catalán y máxima expresión del arte de la forja en Cataluña, en tanto a su calidad como a su cantidad, es la colección privada de más importancia puesta a la venta en los últimos años.

Esta colección proviene de la familia y herederos del Maestro Alegre, que la han conservado hasta nuestros días intacta en su totalidad. Contiene, desde piezas de gran importancia hasta elementos del taller del Maestro y piezas que complementaban otros objetos.

Todas las piezas son obras de Gerardo Alegre, forjadas en la época en que trabajo a las ordenes de Antoni Gaudi y Puig i Cadafalch entre otros arquitectos de la época de oro del modernismo catalán. También organismos oficiales e instituciones le encargaron obras, que se conservan en la actualidad. Esto hizo que en sus obras se manifieste la influencia del movimiento modernista y de sus principales artífices, sobre todo Gaudi. En la colección hay numerosas piezas que son diseños y encargos de Gaudi. La más representativa es la cubierta del pozo de la Sagrada Familia (hoy cubierto) en Barcelona.

Es de todos sabido que Gaudi hizo encargos a los mejores maestros artesanos de su época y Gerardo Alegre fue uno de ellos. No es de extrañar la influencia gaudiniana.

Un gran seguidor de la obra de Gerardo Alegre fue el pintor Santiago Rusiñol, gran amante de la forja medieval y catalana. Las obras de Alegre están expuestas en el Museo Cau Ferrat de Sitges.

Master Gerardo Alegre's Wrought Iron Collection

Now is the right time, and probably the best occasion, for acquiring this collection consisting of a hundred exclusive and unique pieces of wrought iron by Gerardo Alegre, a great master of the early 20th century. These works are representative of Catalan Modernism and the maximum expression of the foundry art in Catalonia, as far as its quality and quantity is concerned, it is the most important private collection for sale in the latest years.

This collection has been looked after by Master Alegre's family and inheritors, who have preserved it in perfect condition. It contains pieces of great importance together with elements of the Alegre's workshop and pieces that used to complement other objects.

All of the pieces are Gerardo Alegre's works, wrought during his co-operation with Antoni Gaudi and Puig i Cadafalch among other architects of the Golden age of Catalan Modernism. Several institutions and official organs ordered him works that still exist nowadays. Because of this, his works have a remarkable Modernist influence, inspired by the current¹s leading figures, especially Gaudí. Plenty of the pieces in this collection were designed and ordered by Gaudí. The most representative is the well cover in the Sagrada Familia (now covered) in Barcelona.

Everybody knows that Gaudí entrusted the best craftsmen masters of his time and Gerardo Alegre was one of them. Therefore, the gaudinian influence of his works is quite obvious.

A great admirer of Alegre's works was Santiago Russiñol, a Catalan painter who loved medieval and Catalan forge. Alegre's works are exhibited in the Cau Ferrat Museum in Sitges.
